SUMMARY:Solution Session: Advancing LGBTQIA+ Justice & Joy
DESCRIPTION:Register\nEvent description\n\nSVP Denver amplifies the impact of local nonprofits and social mission organizations that address health\, economic and racial inequities in Metro Denver by connecting them to the support and expertise they need to thrive. Solution Sessions provide a structured opportunity for community members to identify and/or advance community-based solutions to social mission organizations’ key challenges. Join us on April 30th\, 2025 from 8:30am to 11:00am for our Solution Session featuring organizations serving LGBTQIA+ individuals and communities. \nMeet the Participating Organizations\nRainbow Dome is a queer-centric hub that gathers people across differences to experience joy-in-motion through art and activities. They are a community venue for roller skating\, entertainment\, and art. Their vision is a more playful world that values accountability and connectedness. \nDesign Question:  How might we ensure safety and belonging for our Black and queer communities using strategies that don’t perpetuate harmful surveillance and policing tactics? \nDenver Family Institute offers affordable therapy services to families of all backgrounds\, in addition to having a highly respected Marriage and Family Therapy training program. \nDesign Question: How might we raise awareness of our queer youth program among mental health and other youth-serving professionals? \nTrans Continental Pipeline is a grassroots mutual aid network based in Denver CO. They provide resources to help 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals move from unsafe situations and political climates to the great state of Colorado! \nDesign Question: How might we improve TCP’s support of housing stability for our transplants? \nSetting the Stage\nIn recent months\, the LGBTQIA+ community has faced a surge of targeted and hateful actions\, both at the national level and within our own communities. From executive actions dismantling DEI initiatives to harmful rhetoric on government websites\, these attacks are relentless and deeply damaging. Research consistently shows that trans-affirming care saves lives—studies published in JAMA Network Open and endorsed by the American Medical Association demonstrate that access to gender-affirming healthcare significantly reduces rates of depression\, suicide\, and mental health struggles among transgender individuals. \nWhile Colorado has laws protecting providers\, parents\, and individuals seeking care\, we cannot take these protections for granted. Across the country\, states are rescinding anti-discrimination laws\, putting transgender people in immediate danger in employment\, housing\, and everyday life. Now more than ever\, it is critical to come together as a community to support the organizations on the frontlines of this fight. This Solution Session is an opportunity to collaborate\, innovate\, and take actionable steps to protect LGBTQIA+ rights\, safety\, and joy—because our collective future depends on it. \nProgram Goal\nCollaborate with impact-driven community members to find solutions to strategic challenges featured organizations are facing through a structured brainstorming and decision making process. By Participating in this Solution Session\, social mission organizations and community leaders will: \n\nExpand Awareness: Learn about the impactful work of organizations addressing LGBTQIA2S+ justice and connect with others in the impact ecosystem who are tackling similar challenges.\nDeepen Knowledge: Share insights and gain knowledge about community-driven programs\, services\, and innovative approaches to creating meaningful change.\nCollaborate on Solutions: Contribute your expertise and experience to support community organizations in solving a critical challenge through a structured process\n\nWhy Attend?\nDuring this reimagined SVP Denver Solution Session\, together\, we’ll support organizations safeguarding LGBTQIA+ rights and joy in our community\, while harnessing your expertise and perspectives to drive meaningful change and protect our collective future. This event is for social mission organization staff and leaders\, prospective donors\, SVP Denver Partners\, and impact-driven community members across sectors.
