Pro Bono Consulting
We connect social mission organizations with local professionals to work on free consulting projects to support organizational growth.
Do you need support for a project to overcome a key challenge to your organization’s growth? If you are looking for outside expertise to amplify your impact, but can’t afford to hire an outside consultant, then SVP Denver wants to help.
Our Partners bring decades of professional experience from the business and nonprofit sectors, and they volunteer their time to help social mission organizations in Denver.
Eligibility Criteria
- Nonprofit or For-Profit Impact Organization = your organization is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is operating under a fiscal agent or is a social venture.
- Operating in the Denver Metro Region = you are located within and/or providing 51% or more of your services within Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, and/or Jefferson counties.
- Mission and Impact = you understand how your services are meeting a clear community need.
- Team Readiness = your staff and/or board will dedicate time to assessing current systems, strategizing their desired future state and work to get there on top of day-to-day operations.

- Inclusiveness and Equity = your organization embodies values, policies and practices that ensure all stakeholders are engaged equitably.
Support Provided
SVP Denver provides pro bono, project-based support—our Partners collaborate with your team as advisors, not as staff. If your project is not fully defined, we will work with you to refine it into a focused initiative.
Applicants may request support for a specific project. Explore the full range of project options in the table below.
Please note: We are currently unable to accept proposals for strategic plan development.

Project Structure
SVP Denver offers four levels of project engagement, ranging from a focused 90-minute mastermind session to a multi-month transformative consultation. Before filling out your application, consider which structure best fits your organization’s needs. During your interview with the SVP Denver Programs team, we’ll explore the best approach to maximize your impact.
Application Process
1. Send an Application.
Tell us about your organization and answer key questions to help you define your Project Scope of Work. Our application takes on average 20-30 minutes to complete!
2. Response from SVP.
We will personally reach out to set up a 1:1 interview with SVP Denver staff or request more information. Following the conversation, we will present your project to Partners to gauge interest.
3. Make your impact!
If a Partner(s) is identified to support your project, we will share details for getting started.
If a Partner(s) is not identified to support your project, we will present it once more in the next cycle, and direct you to any potentially helpful resources to support your needs.
What We Will Ask of You
- Program eligibility: you meet all SVP Denver eligibility requirements.
- Timeline expectations and capacity: Social mission organizations come with a clear project and all parties have the capacity to put time into the work. You will work on a project timeline together in your Project Scope. We understand schedules shift, adjustments are expected!
- Honesty and communication: We understand everyone has different working styles. If a project collaboration isn’t working for you, please let us know and we will do our best to make adjustments to the Project Scope and/or your project team.
- Clarity of project: Come with a clear organizational issue to solve and a clear project goal.
- Share your feedback: Pro Bono Consulting is a key SVP Denver program. We are constantly reviewing and improving. We ask that you share your experience with us at the project mid-point, the project end, and again one year later.
- Impact Metrics: Setting clear impact goals/metrics provides a strong foundation for meaningful progress. We encourage all organizations applying to take time with their team to define what success looks like and the potential impact the project can have on the community you serve. Starting with a well-informed goal allows organizations and Partners to work together effectively to shape a project that drives real change.
