Twice a year, SVP Denver identifies several non-profit organizations – prospective investees – to receive pro-bono consulting services through a multi-step selection process.
In March, our executive committee reviewed applications for the spring cycle and recommended ten nonprofits to the investee selection committee, comprised of more than a dozen SVP Denver partner members. Using established criteria, five applicants were selected for onsite visits. SVP partner members and investee leaders then met to gain further clarity and outline the SVP scope of work. The committee assessed the talent, expertise and skills across SVP Denver to match our capacity with the identified needs of the applicant. Final selections were made in May, and engagements begin this month.
Here are the selections:
- A Child’s Song, bringing music education and appreciation to children.
- Adoption Options, an adoption agency launching a new online resource, ARISE Academy, to provide ongoing post adoption support to families.
- Platte Forum, connecting youth with artists to bring out their full potential and improve high school graduation rates.
- Rocky Mountain MicroFinance Institute, a returning SVP investee from 2016 that awards seed funding and provides mentorship to aspiring low-income entrepreneurs.
Project teams comprised of SVP partner members have been created and work with the nonprofits has begun. If you are interested in getting on any of these engagements, it’s not too late! Contact investee selection chair Justin Folkestad at jfolkestad.svp@gmail.com.
